'The Sea Oats Invitational'

This expedition was not brief, but this report will be ... somewhat. As always, we had one hell of a time on the sand. It's been tough to get out there the past month and a half so this was prized time. It was a perfect example of how important patience can be. When it's all said and done, we fished 24 hours over a day and a half or so. It was damn hot and the crowds were a little heavy during the day. Fortunately, we have a property there and were able to keep camp set up for the duration ... not an all the time luxury.

We fished hard. We had the best baits a guy could ask for. The team was in place. Conditions were more than decent. Then it got good. We had runs, pick ups, drops and more runs ... some of them long, deliberate and strong. We all scratched holes in our heads on several occasions about how some of these didn't result in hookups. Anyway, it was all mystery meat until Dave saved the day on day 3 with ... something. It was frustrating, indeed, but like I said it's all about patience and the fact it's trips like this that keep you coming back for more the next time. We didn't have time to organize our official tourney. Too bad for Dave because he would've taken the prize. So, here's a little peek at the trip. We always have a good time, either way. And this was no different. Sea Oats is a yearly family retreat and we take full advantage of the quality time. The fish are just a bonus.
